FOCUS : expansion

as we age, various changes occur in our bodies, including changes in lung function. one of the reasons lung capacity tends to decrease with age is due to the natural aging process and the effects it has on the respiratory system. factors such as loss of elasticity in lung tissues, weakening of respiratory muscles, changes in lung structure, and accumulation of lung tissue damage contribute to this decline.

however, it’s worth noting that lung capacity can be improved or maintained through various means. regular physical activity, particularly aerobic exercises, can help strengthen the respiratory muscles and improve lung function. furthermore, holistic practices such as holotropic breathwork, diaphragmatic breathing, pursed lip breathing, and pranayama (breathing exercises in yoga) can also be beneficial for improving lung capacity and respiratory function. these techniques involve specific breathing patterns aimed at increasing the volume of air you inhale and exhale, as well as improving the efficiency of oxygen exchange in the lungs. holotropic breathwork, in particular, can induce altered states of consciousness and promote emotional healing, while other techniques like diaphragmatic breathing and pursed lip breathing focus on strengthening the respiratory muscles and regulating breathing.

by engaging in these breathwork practices, you can work on expanding your lungs and as well as your consciousness. these practices not only have physical benefits in terms of improving lung capacity and respiratory function but can also have a positive impact on mental and emotional well-being.
